Researchers from WaSH-AID and several of our partners attended the invitation-only Reinvented Toilet Expo hosted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Beijing, China, on November 6-8, 2018.
At the Expo, WaSH-AID showcased a compact, automated, scalable technology - the Reclaimer - designed to rapidly treat blackwater to ISO 30500 standards, enabling water conservation and re-use. Since the Expo, the Reclaimer has evolved to meet various use cases. In addition to wastewater treatment, WaSH-AID also showcased a menstrual hygiene product disposal unit designed to provide safe and hygienic menstrual hygiene waste reduction and the Empower sanitation platform, a concept of scalable onsite liquid and solid waste treatment technologies.
